Get ready to experience the next level of financial clarity in Xero with data insights that help you better visualize your business performance. Introducing Analytics powered by Syft, Xero’s new product that makes insights more accessible to small businesses and their advisors.

We asked Diya Jolly, Xero’s Chief Product and Technology Officer, to share the latest progress since Xero acquired Syft last year and what we can expect from Analytics powered by Syft.

When will Syft be available in Xero?

Since announcing our acquisition of  Syft in September last year, our teams have been working hard behind the scenes on integrating the product into Xero.

We’re taking the first step on the journey towards putting these powerful insights into the hands of every small business using Xero. We’re starting to pull key small-business–focused features of the Syft product over into Analytics powered by Syft, the new analytics product within Xero.

And today, we’re giving early access to Analytics powered by Syft to eligible US-based customers on the Established plan.

This early release will provide these customers with the tools to easily see how their business is doing, through visualizations of profitability, profit and loss, and balance sheet accounts. These valuable insights enable small businesses to make better-informed business decisions, improve their financial management, improve efficiencies and save time, among many other benefits.

Who is eligible to access Analytics powered by Syft today?

Over the next two weeks, Analytics powered by Syft will be made available to eligible US-based customers on Established plans with advisor or standard plus reporting user permissions in Xero.

To ensure our customers have a great experience, for the initial release we’ve excluded some US-based Established plans with large volumes of journal lines. Additionally, advisors with a free Xero plan are not included in the initial release; however, advisors can access this functionality in US-based Established customer plans if they have either advisor or standard plus reporting user permissions.

Eligible customers with early access will see banners in Xero to access Analytics powered by Syft via the Xero dashboard, via the report center, and via a button within profit and loss (income statement) reports.

We’re starting with this small group of customers in order to gather feedback and make any refinements to the product before expanding to more plans and regions.

What are your future plans for Analytics powered by Syft?

This is just the start of integrating Syft’s key small-business–focused features into Xero. Over the coming months, we’ll be adding additional value, such as performance dashboards, cash manager and more, and expanding to more regions and plans.

We’re working hard on continued improvements to visualizations, analytics, and reporting, so all our customers can get those powerful insights to help their business grow and thrive. Our goal is to deepen the integration of these features into Xero and continue to add more value over time.

Outside of this integration with Xero, Syft will continue to be available to small businesses and their accountants and bookkeepers as a standalone application, no matter who their accounting software provider is.

What made you want to acquire Syft for Xero?

We wanted to accelerate our mission to provide powerful insights to small businesses, and lay the foundations for smarter, AI-powered insights in Xero.

Xero and Syft are a great match, and we’re excited to work together to achieve our shared goals. And our customers love Syft for its beautiful custom reporting and visual presentation of  data; that’s why it’s the most used reporting and insights app in the Xero App Store.

How will accountants and bookkeepers benefit?

The deeper insights gained by small businesses will enable advisors to strengthen client relationships by facilitating more meaningful conversations and support.

We’re also looking at how we can provide accountants and bookkeepers more value with Syft in the future.

How is Xero working together with the Syft team?

We’ve welcomed Syft’s Johannesburg-based team into Xero, and we’re enjoying working together to bring Analytics powered by Syft to our customers. Syft’s team culture and core values of innovation, collaboration, and customer-focus are closely aligned with our own. We’re so thrilled to have their expertise and passion on board as we work together to reimagine the future of accounting.

Several members of the Xero team visited Syft’s head office in Johannesburg, late 2024.

We’re excited to provide this early access to Analytics powered by Syft to our US customers on the Established plan. This is just the beginning of what it offers, and we look forward to expanding what it can do in the coming months.
